#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The series of awards for the main summer holidays in Norilsk – City Day and Metallurgist Day – was continued by the Nornickel Polar Division, Norilsk and Taimyr administrations’ heads.
Nikolay Utkin, Nornickel senior vice president, the Norilsk Division head, the Nornickel Polar Division director, noted that Metallurgist’s Day has always been a special date for the Norilsk people. And the successes that the Norilsk Division demonstrates today as a team, as a large team, are an example throughout the country:
“I am proud that we have brought Nornickel to such a level. Today we occupy one of the leading positions in the industry and on a global scale.
I am proud that together with you I see how the city is changing, how large-scale social projects are being implemented, including the city renovation. This year, we will launch one of the most important, unparalleled projects in the world, which is part of the Clean Air federal program – the Sulfur Program at the Nadezhda plant.
But the most important thing is that we have huge development plans not only for a year, but for decades. And since we are developing, it means we will improve our standard of living in our beloved city.”
On behalf of Nornickel, he presented awards to 21 employees and gave the floor to the head of Norilsk. Dmitry Karasev emphasized that it is difficult to overestimate the company’s role in the city development: as a world leader in the production of non-ferrous metals, a socially responsible enterprise, Nornickel implements such important projects for citizens as the reconstruction of engineering networks, the construction of new housing and social facilities.
“I am now talking about a polyclinic, a kindergarten, schools, sports and cultural facilities. I am sure that in a year or a year and a half we will see a completely different Norilsk: environmentally friendly, with new facilities. This is really a merit of all of us – Norilsk residents, the company and the city employees”, Dmitry Karasev told everyone.
The city head presented 12 company employees with the 70 Years of the City of Norilsk anniversary medals. Many employees got other badges of honor.
The ceremony was completed by the Taimyr head, Evgeny Vershinin, who presented the Nornickel employees with awards from the Taimyr municipal district leaders.
