#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Rosstat agency assigned Norilsk the highest cost of living index in the Siberian Federal District in 2021 – 1.34. Prices in the city for a 264 goods set and services are 34 percent higher than the Russian average.
Recall that the cost of living index, unlike the consumer price index, allows to determine the place of individual cities in terms of price levels in comparison with the country as a whole.
The city of Strezhevoy is on the second line of the life rating with an excess of 12 percent, Gornoaltaysk and Lesosibirsk took the third place with 4 percent. Krasnoyarsk is in fourth place with an excess of 1 percent.
The cheapest city in Siberia to live in is Kuibyshev, in the Novosibirsk region, with prices 17 percent lower than the national average and 51 percent lower than the most expensive Siberian city, Norilsk.
When calculating the cost of living index, the size of the average salary is not taken into account. For example, in October 2021, the average monthly nominal salary in the Krasnoyarsk region was 59 thousand rubles, which is eight percent higher than the average in Russia. And in the Novosibirsk region, where Kuibyshev is located, – 46.9 thousand rubles – 14.1 percent below the national average.
