#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The Russian government has approved a list of support settlements in the Arctic zone, which will become the basis for the implementation of economic and infrastructure projects.
Together with Norilsk and Dikson on Taimyr, Naryan-Mar, Novy Urengoy, Noyabrsk, Vorkuta, Pevek and Anadyr became strongholds in the Arctic regions. In total, the list includes 16 agglomerations in nine regions of the Arctic zone. Thus, within the Murmansk region, Murmansk, Severomorsk and the Kola municipal district became strongholds. The Arhangelsk agglomeration includes Arhangelsk, Severodvinsk and Novodvinsk.
Some of the settlements located near mineral deposits will become the basis for the development of mineral resource centers that ensure the development of the metallurgical industry. In other cities and regions, priority investment projects will be implemented, for example, the logistics centers creation.
The corresponding order was signed by Russian prime minister Mikhail Mishustin, according to the ministers’ cabinet website. According to its experts, long-term plans for comprehensive socio-economic development will be approved in the near future for the agglomerations included in the list.
