New weather station to be tested on Putorana plateau

April 23, 2024

The domestic device is reliable and processes data within a radius of several kilometers.

#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. A new device has appeared in the scientific department of the Taimyr Nature Reserves directorate – a professional automatic weather station. Using sensors, it can collect and process weather data within a radius of several kilometers, both automatically and remotely.

As Taimyr Nature Reserves reported, this is a domestic development; it measures temperature, humidity, pressure, wind speed and direction, precipitation intensity and other parameters. Data is transmitted for analysis via satellite communication and accumulated on a server, where it can always be used for analysis over the entire observation period. The device is easy to maintain and reliable.

“The weather station will be tested this season on the Putorana plateau. It will be installed in one of the control areas where the Putorana bighorn sheep lives, which will make it possible to more fully study the ecology of this Red Book endemic and the impact of changing environmental conditions”, said the Taimyr Nature Reserves.

Earlier, we reported that an environmental assessment indicator would be introduced in Taimyr.
