#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The PressPass publishing house (Moscow) has published the second modern guidebook Norilsk Taimyr in Russian and English. Like the first edition of 2019, the second one was prepared by the Norilsk Museum at the request of the municipality.
The guidebook tells about the history of the territory development, natural and cultural attractions, tourist routes, and types of leisure. The information has been updated and new articles have been included. For example, about street art in the tundra Vot Eto Zaneslo (Snowed Under) – an object that greets everyone arriving in the city on the way from the airport.
The 180-page book has many photographs and infographics, interesting figures, and there are plans and diagrams of the settlements. The publication will be useful not only for those planning a trip to Norilsk and Taimyr, but also for local residents who are interested in the history and nature of their region.
A large team of authors worked on the book in partnership with the publishing house. The compilers, editors and authors of articles are the Norilsk Museum complex director Natalya Fedyanina, deputy director Natalya Boyarkina, chief curator Snezhana Negorelova, head of the collection storage department Liliya Luganskaya, head of the scientific information department Larisa Korobenina, research associates Alexander Smirnov and Dmitry Shebalkov, head of the Talnah branch of the Norilsk Museum Olga Kostenko, journalists and regional experts Tatyana Rychkova and Valentina Vachayeva.
The publication is part of a federal series of illustrated regional guidebooks. Books in the series are distributed throughout the country and sold in Russian bookstores. The guidebook is already available for purchase in museum shops.
Earlier, Taimyrsky Telegraf wrote about why Talnah residents collect stones.
