#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. A series of documentaries by the Spas TV channel is devoted to the Church of Lord’s Transfiguration construction in Kayerkan. The film project implementation, as well as the construction itself, was made possible with the Nornickel support.
The work is moving not just ‘on camera’: the object commissioning is close. Crosses have already been erected on the church today. At the same time, some of the Norilsk believers who have an active life position, while working on the film, became the characters of this warm hearted series about people, events and a special historical and spiritual place beyond the 69th parallel.
This time the capital team’s shooting took place in the first half of June. Journalists and cameramen with sisters of mercy visited the regional hospital, with volunteers – visited the children’s hospital, with tourists and extreme sportsmen – the Red Stones and other protected areas of the territory.
The lion’s share of filming took place, of course, at the construction site in Kayerkan, where the temple is being built.
“According to the idea of the film, every time we bring to the temple new people, who became our characters during the project. Exactly one year ago, the foundation stone was consecrated and the temple construction began. And today, a year later, the domes of the Church of the Lord’s Transfiguration were consecrated and installed. We are grateful to everyone who was with us today at this important event for the city, and to everyone who worried, supported and prayed”, commented Anastasia Popova, the film producer.
The previous episodes characters are church singers, a miner and a metallurgist, artists, builders, ethnographers and teachers. The new film ambassadors are also ordinary and at the same time unusual citizens.
For example, Fedya Pirogov, a priest’s son: the boy helps in the temple altar, plays the clarinet, plays hockey. Or Nadezhda Kuznetsova: she assists the surgeon during operations and at the same time takes care of cancer patients along with other sisters of the Norilsk Mercy Center at the Cathedral of the Icon of the Mother of God Joy of All Who Sorrow. Or Igor Berdyugin, of the Norilsk Development Agency specialist in the tourism development direction and at the same time an assistant to the youth department head of the Norilsk diocese.
The movie project is coming to an end. Once again, the Spas film crew will come to our region closer to August. Very soon, the Church of the Lord’s Transfiguration in Kayerkan will open its doors to parishioners – this will be the finale of the series about the harsh and in its own way gentle Arctic.
“We very much hope that your communication and friendship will continue beyond the project”, noted members of the film crew, who managed to unite the people of the Norilsk parish around one topic and one great cause.
Earlier, the film studio Foma Kino completed work on a film about the life of the northernmost Orthodox parish in the world in Dikson, Taimyr.
