#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The Taimyrsky mine development is one of the key projects to improve the Nornickel’s mining base. Already now, the largest volume of rich ores extraction in the company’s Polar Division is noted here.
According to geological exploration data, the Taimyrsky mine’s Octyabrsky copper-nickel ores deposit’s Bolshoy Gorst site has more than eight million tons of ore in reserve. It is unique in its composition: almost all metals mined at Nornickel’s Polar Division are represented in it.
The last launch complex construction began in 2022. During construction, more than eight thousand cubic meters of rock were raised to the surface and placed in the worked-out space. Taking into account the construction’s previous stages experience, in difficult mining and geological conditions, more than four thousand cubic meters of concrete were laid to secure the mine workings, and an arch support was erected in unstable rocks. For technical support, the builders installed almost 1.5 thousand meters of the pipeline and laid 4254 meters of cable.
Now the mine builders are completing work on the third and final stage of the fifth start-up complex, which will ensure the maintenance of previously commissioned capacities. About 2.2 billion rubles were sent to it. The invested funds will help not only maintain, but also increase the productivity of Taimyrsky until at least 2040.
