#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. On September 7, lake Imandra will host the only night cross-country run on the Kola peninsula during the northern lights season. In 2024, adult participants will run 5, 13, 20, 35 kilometers, teenagers – 5 kilometers, and children – 800 meters, which can be run with a parent.
Moncha Night Trail 2024 participants will have to overcome the Nyuduayvench and Vurechuayvench mountain ranges with elevation changes from 400 to 1500 meters
“The running route will also cover mount Puadzuayvench, which means the summit, the crown of a domestic deer. The mountain offers one of the best views of Monchegorsk – a city surrounded by lakes, Hibiny mountains and Imandra – the largest lake on the Kola peninsula. And if you’re lucky, you can also see the northern lights – a polar wonder that can be seen in the region from August to April”, the organizers said.
Participation is paid (except for the 800-meter children’s distance). The number of participants is limited, pre-registration is required. Online registration is open until September 1, 2024, you can register on the day of the competition only if there are free slots.
Moncha Night Trail is part of the large-scale year-round Imandra Fest festival in Monchegorsk, which brings together lovers of nature, sports and outdoor activities.
