Meteorologist in Arctic chased away fish-snatching polar bear

Social media users praised the bravery of a Russian woman in Severnaya Zemlya.

#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. During the holiday weekend, a video circulated on social media from the Severnaya Zemlya archipelago, showing a female meteorologist on Golomyanny island shouting at a polar bear that had been stealing cod from the hydrometeorological station.

Natalya Rassoha, a specialist of the Northern Administration for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring, confronted the furry thief, yelling:

“You’ve had enough! Get out of here!”

The polar bear retreated from the storage area where the fish supplies were kept and left empty-handed. Just as the bear was leaving, the dogs arrived on the scene.

“You’re a bit late”, the woman remarked.

It’s important to note that feeding polar bears is prohibited as it can be dangerous.

Earlier, we reported on several encounters between nuclear icebreakers and polar bears. These curious creatures are often attracted by the smells coming from the galley.
