#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. While the ship was preparing for its next escort, a pair of inquisitive white bears approached. They examined the icebreaker and even tried to get inside, seemingly attracted by the delicious smells wafting from the galley. The curious guests were captured by Diana Kydzhi, the nuclear icebreaker captain’s senior assistant.
Polar explorers note that in Arctic settlements, it’s common to see signs on doors that read: “Close the doors! Heat escapes – bear enters”. This highlights the fact that no better protection against polar bears has yet been invented.
The Atomflot press service has reminded everyone that feeding wild animals is strictly prohibited.
Polar bears often show interest in Russian Arctic vessels. Previously, we reported on a bear that explored the nuclear icebreaker Ural near Novaya Zemlya. Additionally, not far from Taimyr, a white bear even praised the chef of the nuclear icebreaker Vaigach.
