#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. A situational logistics center was opened in the Polar Division due to the increase in cargo turnover because of the Nornickel’s investment projects and the Norilsk renovation. It will ensure the material and technical resources’ rhythmic supply.
According to the Nornickel’s press service, part of the cargo arriving at the Dudinka seaport is delivered directly to enterprises, part goes to warehouses, after which it is distributed to consumers.
Previously, the dispatchers of each enterprise monitored the goods’ movement. A single balanced mechanism was launched to manage the transport and logistics system with the logistics center’s opening.
The center’s work is in the enterprises’ activities’ operational planning in terms of transport logistics, in clarifying plans for the goods’ transportation and forecasting cargo flows. The center can influence the cargo delivery process and optimize it, use various transport modes in the territory, organize multimodal chains and establish rhythmic delivery.
According to the Nornickel’s senior vice president, the Norilsk Division’s head Nikolai Utkin, this isn’t just about upgrading the existing system:
“This is a new direction, a project for further digitalization. The organizing and building effective logistics chains issue has always been a priority for us: remoteness from the mainland, difficult conditions for the goods’ delivery of, a limited period of navigation required well-coordinated, detailed work from us.
We are faced with the transportation issue especially sharply today. Large-scale investment projects are simultaneously being implemented in our territory. They are the Sulfur Program, the Norilsk renovation, the third start-up complex of the Talnah Concentrating plant construction and much more.
The center’s opening will make it possible to clearly plan and coordinate all logistics activities. We will see the entire cargo flow, receive all the statistics quickly, predict and manage the volumes and timing of deliveries optimally on-line on the dispatch screens”.
Earlier we told that the Nornickel will create up to eleven thousand new jobs.
