#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. In the pilot section from Octyabrskaya square to Gvardeyskaya square, three LED lines and 14 LED consoles were installed on seven new street lighting poles.
The Norilsk Development Agency came up with an initiative to approve the new concept of festive lighting design for city streets. The chosen illumination emphasizes the Norilsk uniqueness and the North beauty. These are decorative illumination based on the northern lights image and consoles in the form of cloudberries, polar zharki and animal images symbolizing Norilsk parts.
Illumination has several working scenarios – from static monochrome to multicolor iridescent. The light structures were made in Krasnoyarsk, they can withstand low temperatures, as well as snow and wind.
The most difficult thing was to set the consoles and stretch marks during the blizzard that is now raging in the city, organizers say. The process took about two weeks.
In case of a successful outcome of the experiment, the illumination in the form of aurora borealis and the northern territories symbols as well as the Arctic animals – a deer, a bear, an owl, a polar fox and others – will be brought into operation.
According to the Taimyr Telegraph local news resource, Norilsk is one of the most well-lit cities in Russia.
