#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The Severny Gorod Media Company and the Norilsk Museum within the lecture club Concentrating Plant, the lectures on the Polar Explorer’s Day and the Russian Geographical Society’s action Night of Geography invite Norilsk residents to meet with the Association of Polar Explorers of Russia vice-president, polar explorer, journalist, writer and cinematographer Vladimir Strugatsky.
The guest will tell the Concentrating Plant club’s participants how to combine the polar explorer’s life, travelling, research, annual expeditions and professional creative work on books and films. Also Vladimir Strugatsky will share exciting polar stories.
Within the lecture there will be the film Columbus of the Russian North premiere. This is a story about the most tragic and most joyful pages of the Norilsk founder’s life. The film contains interviews with Nikolai Urvantsev’s students and colleagues including the well-known Norilsk deposits’ explorer, the Russian Academy of Sciences’ corresponding member David Dodin, the Special Representative of the Russian President for International Cooperation in the Arctic and Antarctic, the Hero of the Soviet Union, the Hero of Russia Artur Chilingarov, the polar marine exploration expedition’s head, geologist Vladimir Kryukov, polar geologist Boris Singer.
The meeting will take place on June 3 at the Norilsk Museum.
