Krasnoyarsk subway project to use mothballed line

January 22, 2024

Governor Mikhail Kotyukov spoke about the changes.

#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The mothballed metro line, built in the 90s of the last century, will be included in the existing metrotram project. This was announced by the regional governor Mikhail Kotyukov. Previously there were no plans to use the branch, but the decision was revised.

“After a detailed study of the technical capabilities, this decision was made. The engineers who are currently designing the Krasnoyarsk subway are preparing documentation taking into account that the constructed tunnel from Vysotnaya street to Kopylov street will become part of the modern metrotram project”, said the region’s head.

In addition, the facility route was adjusted, the stations location was clarified, and some land plots were added.

Previously, the project provided for four underground points and two above-ground ones. The updated project includes five underground stopping points and one above-ground one on Molokov street. Also, the metrotram route’s operational length has been increased by 200 meters – it has become 11 kilometers.

The Krasnoyarsk subway will become an object of regional importance.

Earlier, ancient shopping arcades were found on the site of the future metro station in Krasnoyarsk.
