#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Specialists of the Gelendzhik safari park told about the names for the Krasnoyarsk polar bear, Commander Sedov’s children. Recall that the she-bear Seryozhka gave birth to cubs in December last year and refused to feed them.
Four employees of the zoo took care of the kids around the clock. The cubs immediately became everyone’s favorites. The whole country watched the little predators growing up. A month ago, the Gelendzhik safari park and the Krasnoyarsk park Roev Ruchey announced a competition for the best nicknames for the bears.
“The father of the cubs, the polar bear Sedov, was born at the Leningrad Zoo. Sedov’s father was named Menshikov, and his brothers (his mother Uslada had three cubs) were named Malygin and Bering, such names were given to the bear cubs in honor of the heroes – the Arctic explorers”, the safari park keepers said. They agreed that the name for the female would be chosen in Gelendzhik, and for the one for the male – in Krasnoyarsk.
The name Arctic got the largest number of likes among the subscribers of the zoo in Gelendzhik, and Aurora got a little less. So it was decided to give the baby a double name – Arctic-Aurora.
“The Arctic is the land of eternal cold, northern lights and icy expanses. A homeland for all polar bears. Aurora, the goddess of the morning dawn, a poetic symbol, embodies the hope for all the brightest, most beautiful and kind”, said the park keepers.
For the male bear cub, a powerful name with deep historical roots was chosen – Ermak. In honor of the talented commander, the brave Cossack chieftain.
