August 08, 2022

The Krasnoyarsk region youth discusses language problems and the cultural heritage of the indigenous peoples.

#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The IV Krasnoyarsk region North Indigenous Peoples Youth Forum opening ceremony took place in the Norilsk youth center. The large-scale event is attended by 50 delegates from the northern territories of the region aged 18 to 35 years.

The forum topic is the tourism and ethnotourism development.

The Krasnoyarsk region Taimyr Indigenous Peoples Association president Grigory Dyukarev opened the forum:

“We are expanding the horizons, mastering new knowledge, new practices, and today we have a unique opportunity to work both in Norilsk and Dudinka. An extensive program has been prepared for the forum participants, and I am sure that our youth will carry the ancestral matter with their heads held high. As it was they who taught us how to survive in the most severe conditions, and now our task is to preserve the culture laid by them”.

The forum first day was dedicated to personal development. Cohesion and team building trainings were organized at the youth center. As the participants themselves noted, they were so passionate about the process that even a whole day was not enough for them.

Ksenia Kaplina, originally from the village of Vanavara (Evenkia), was so impressed on the first day of the forum that she firmly decided to inspire other guys from her village.

“I now live in Krasnoyarsk, and once or twice a year I come to my homeland. I would like young people to dream more boldly, so that they develop ambitions. We in the Tungussko-Chunsky district have a problem in terms of developing and supporting our culture. Therefore, I would like to help my fellow countrymen to show themselves more actively”, Ksenia shared.

This morning, a business platform with the participation of representatives of the authorities of both the regional and municipal levels and the Nornickel company has been operating at the Ayka sports and recreation complex. The participants are going to attend interesting dialogue meetings with expert speakers who were invited from all over the Krasnoyarsk region: Krasnoyarsk, Norilsk, Evenkia, Turuhansk region, specialists from Irkutsk and even from the Murmansk region also arrived.

“We have prepared very good seminars on grants and competitions that Nornickel has been organizing for many years. These are the World of New Opportunities and The Taimyr World. We will tell you what new nominations appeared and that children have a tremendous opportunity to develop the territories where they live through participation in the grant programs”, said Anfisa Nikiforova, the Nornickel’s Polar Division Indigenous Minorities department head.

All platforms are off-line, forum participants can communicate live, ask questions, and establish contacts for further interaction. And this will be an invaluable help for the future self-realization of the guys.

It should be noted that the Taimyr Indigenous Minorities Association has been the organizer of the forum for the fourth year in a row, and the Nornickel is the forum general partner and takes an unbearable part in its organization.
