#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. A little less than two months remain before the New Year, which means it’s time to get ready for the holiday.
Today the This Is Taimyr photographer filmed the moment of ice cutting at Dolgoye lake. The process of ice blocks birth looks simple and technologically advanced.
In the lake, with the help of an ice cutter, blocks of the same shape and size are cut, then moved to the shore with hooks. After that, the workers use a crane to store the lumps in the truck body and take them away. Then the sculptors will turn the pieces of ice into works of art.
Last year, the New Year’s sites opened earlier than usual – on December 14. It has not yet been reported about this year’s opening.
