#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The Hvorostovsky arts festival grand opening took place on the stage of the Krasnoyarsk regional philharmonic’s Grand Hall.
“Many people who are known and appreciated all over the world were born in our region. But Dmitry Hvorostovsky did not just become very famous, he won the people’s love. Hvorostovsky’s talent scale was of such a kind that his work is known, close and understandable to people of different ages, professions, musical tastes and nationalities. For me, his powerful and beautiful voice is the voice of our dear Yenisey, the voice of Siberia itself. Dmitry maintained a special connection with his native Krasnoyarsk throughout his life: here he took his first steps on stage, here he brought his new programs and here he gave his last solo concert in Russia. The main wealth of Siberia is smart, strong, talented, caring people, thanks to whom the impossible becomes reality. This is exactly what Dmitry Hvorostovsky was like – a true Siberian, one of us”, said Mikhail Kotyukov, the Krasnoyarsk region governor.
The festival program was opened by honored artist of the Russian Federation Ildar Abdrazakov. Accompanied by the Krasnoyarsk philharmonic Russian orchestra named after A. Yu. Bardin, which Dmitry Hvorostovsky called the best orchestra of Russian folk instruments in Russia, the singer performed romances and Russian folk songs, the regional Culture Ministry reports.
“Today’s performance is unusual in its own way, I don’t often go on stage with an orchestra of folk instruments. I hope that the audience liked our experiment. After all, I gave my heart and soul to the Krasnoyarsk audience. I am glad that the festival in memory of my mentor and friend Dmitry Hvorostovsky is taking place in Krasnoyarsk. He could always give advice in a difficult situation, was a reliable shoulder and support. Today, his friends and fans from all over the world have gathered in this hall. And I am happy to be among them”, noted Ildar Abdrazakov.
The festival program will continue with stars of the world and Russian opera scene – Vittorio Grigolo, Zinaida Tsarenko, Olga Peretyatko and Vasily Ladyuk. For the first time, the troupe of the Bolshoi State Theater of Russia will visit Krasnoyarsk in full force – a concert performance of the opera La Traviata will be presented with the participation of its soloists, choir and orchestra. The festival program will be completed by maestro Valery Gergiev and the Mariinsky theater orchestra on November 2.
A special event in the festival program was the exhibition ‘Theater. Painting. Hvorostovsky’ in the Krasnoyarsk State Art Museum named after V.I. Surikov. From October 17, 2024 to January 19, 2025, visitors will be able to see works thematically related to the musical works, which made Dmitry Hvorostovsky worldwide famous.
