In celebration of the 85th anniversary of Nornickel, a group of spotters went to Norilsk airport to capture the moments of aircraft’s takeoff and landing.
The spotters managed to catch planes of different models and airlines in their lenses. Before their eyes, Tu-204 AviastarTu, Airbus 320Neo S7, Il-76 EMERCOM of Russia and those for which everyone gathered – the Boeing 737-800NG of the NordStar airline in a new livery, a separate personalized aircraft Nikolay Urvantsev in the livery of 85th anniversary of Nornickel, as well as the beloved Laikolets – the planes painted like the winter Universiade-2019 mascot U-Laika.
The work of the airport staff turned out to be no less interesting than takeoffs and landings: towing, refueling, baggage loading and unloading, supplying aircrafts with onboard food.
Spotting is a popular hobby today, which consists in photographing aircrafts and maintaining their kind of register. Spotting in Norilsk has been held since 2015.
Despite the August morning fog, the local photography enthusiasts were extremely lucky with beautiful backgrounds for shots. The bright morning sun through the creeping haze allowed photographers to take juicy shots of planes flooded with golden light.
The spotting was organized by the Nornickel company and the Norilsk airport.
