#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. First deputy prime minister of Russia Denis Manturov supported the creation of the production of active cathode materials for lithium-ion batteries in Monchegorsk. The decision was the result of the deputy chairman’s working visit to the Murmansk region, reports Murman news agency.
“The project implementation is critically important from the point of view of localizing the entire technological chain for the creation of batteries for various industries on the territory of the Russian Federation. First of all, this is the production of raw materials for lithium-ion batteries in the Murmansk region. Taking into account the fact that lithium mining will be carried out in our region, we are extremely interested in the full cycle”, emphasized Andrey Chibis, the Murmansk region governor.
The project fully meets the goals outlined in the decree of the Russian Federation president on the national development goals of the Russian Federation for the period until 2030 and for the future until 2036, in terms of achieving the national goal of technological leadership to ensure technological independence and the formation of markets for new materials.
Earlier, This Is Taimyr told about plans to produce the first polar lithium in the Murmansk region by 2027. Lithium mining in the Arctic will be developed by Nornickel and Rosatom.
