#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Until the anniversary year 2026, the working group has already formed a comprehensive plan for the social and economic development of the rural settlement of Hatanga. The plan includes a large number of activities, including the demolition of dilapidated housing, the construction of new buildings, the development of social infrastructure and the construction of an elevated pedestrian crossing.
“The total amount of financing is 5.5 billion rubles. These are great tools, and you need to have time to master them. The most important thing for us is to give Hatanga a new look, because people deserve a better life, and I’m sure we will achieve this”, said the head of Taimyr, Yevgeny Vershinin.
He also noted that the development of the tourism sector is planned in Hatanga thanks to the project to organize a route to the North Pole.
The geographical position of the village allows it to become a gathering point for tourists, from where travelers can get to Barneo station by plane, and then fly by helicopter to the desired point of the North Pole.
“The first steps in this direction have been made. I think the first flight to the North Pole through Hatanga will be completed in 2022. There is a demand for this – today people fly there through Norway. I am sure that tourism in Hatanga has a great future”, concluded Evgeny Vershinin.
The implementation of the tourist project is under the special control of the administration of Taimyr. However, the main role is played by the expeditionary corps of the Russian Geographical Society.
Investors were attracted to renovate the Zapolyarye hotel, which will be converted into a visitor center for tourists. Also this year, a new modular air terminal will be built at the rural airport, taxiways and runway will be repaired. The construction will be carried out by Krasnoyarye’s Airports.
Also the reconstruction of the one-of-a-kind Mammoth Museum and the organization of cruise trips along the Kotuikan river to Hatanga are in the plans for the development of tourism in the village.
