#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. December 5 marks the 100th anniversary of Vladimir Dolgih’s birth. His name is associated with the second birth of our city.
“From 1962 to 1969, Dolgih held the position of the Norilsk combine’s director. On his initiative, an industrial complex began to develop in Norilsk, including hydropower, gas production, transport hubs and the construction industry. Thus, Talnah, Snezhnogorsk, Messoyaha, Solenoye and Tuhard appeared in the vicinity of Norilsk. At the same time, Norilsk airport was commissioned. Of course, it was impossible not to touch on the biography of such an important person for our city”, the book club members shared.
The participants also learned more about the life and truly outstanding achievements of Fedor Konyukhov: a man who has visited the seven summits of the world, set a world record for a round-the-world flight, and crossed the Atlantic 17 times.
We will add that the book club In Good Company is part of the youth program of the same name. It has existed for two years and unites, like the program itself, the Nornickel company’s young employees who have not reached the age of 35. As the program curator Alexander Saulin said, the book club currently has about a dozen book lovers. The meeting takes place once a month in a coworking space on Komsomolskaya street, 33a:
“We choose the topic of the next meeting in advance; both our readers and the club organizers can suggest it. During the meetings, we discuss both fiction and biographical books”.
The topic of the next meeting will be the world peoples’ myths. Those wishing to join the club are invited to the In Good Company community on VKontakte, where a calendar of various events within the program is also posted.
Earlier, This Is Taimyr wrote that a unique exhibition dedicated to Vladimir Dolgih’s anniversary opened in Norilsk.
