#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The festival performances will be held on the Norilsk drama stage from September 17 to October 2.
The opening press conference was attended by the Golden Mask festival’s president, people’s artist of Russia Igor Kostolevsky, the Krasnoyarsk region’s first deputy minister of culture Natalya Gelrud, Norilsk Drama director Irina Kutsaya, deputy Norilsk head for social policy Natalya Korosteleva, the project partners’ representatives including the Nornickel Polar Division deputy director for human resources and social policy Anastasia Perfilieva.
Igor Kostolevsky introduced the festival poster and recalled that this is part of a large regional program, which takes place in 12 cities this year.
The organizers included the performances “for different taste, for various preferences”, but each of them is an event. According to the Golden Mask president, in theatrical circles, the Norilsk spectator retains the reputation of the true, honest and competent one, which can take everything: “That’s it. Everything. We hope that we will not disappoint you”.
The Norilsk citizens will see the production of four theaters: the Moscow Center for Drama and Directing, the Capital Theater named after A.S. Pushkin, who had already visited the city in 2017, the Saturday Theater from St. Petersburg and the Novosibirsk Globus.
The Krasnoyarsk region’s first deputy minister of culture, Natalya Helrud, noted that the northern city overtook the regional capital in the number of Golden Mask festivals. The fourth season of the regional festival opens in Norilsk, and only the second ends in Krasnoyarsk:
“We are glad that thanks to the festival partners, the Norilsk residents have the opportunity to see the best performances of the country. Your city is certainly worthy of this”.
The festival’s regional program, created 22 years ago with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, is assisted by the government and the regional Ministry of Culture. Among the partners are Nornickel, which is closely and fruitfully cooperating with the Golden Mask. In 2015, it was Nornickel that organized a show of festival performances in Krasnoyarsk. A year later, the company supported the Golden Mask cinema project. In 2017, the festival was accepted not only by Norilsk, but also by Dudinka. In 2018, it was held in Chita.
Anastasia Perfilieva, the Nornickel PD deputy director, recalled that Yury Bashmet will join the theater festival at the end of September, which gives Norilsk the right to get the status of the Arctic cultural capital:
“A bright and rich theatrical agenda creates a positive appearance of the city in which you want to live and work, which cannot but affect the reputation of the territory’s chief employer”.
