Peter Yan became the second Russian representative of mixed martial arts – after Khabib Nurmagomedov – the owner of the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s belt.
Yan won the bantamweight title by technical knockout in the fifth round. At the same time, the 27-year-old Russian dominated for most of the fight, and after a straightforward combination began to carry out a series of attacks on the 33-year-old opponent, which brought him an early victory. It is noteworthy that it took Yan just two years to get the champion title since the debut in the main world promotion.
“Russia, we did it!”, Said Peter Yan on camera after the fight, hugged his opponent and got the UFC champion belt.
For Yan, this victory was the fifteenth in his MMA career. He has only one defeat.
Peter Yan is a native of Dudinka. After graduating from the 9th school grade, he moved to Omsk, from where he moved to Yekaterinburg in 2018. After getting the ACB (Absolute Championship Berkut) champion title, the athlete signed a contract with the UFC.
