#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The City of Endless Inspiration first public art festival has started in Norilsk. The art masters invited from St. Petersburg and Moscow – Stepan Krasnov, Viсtor Splash and Lilia Burdinskaya – told what program awaits the participants of the festival and shared their impressions on the city.
To explore Norilsk and propose ideas for art objects, experts came five days before the official opening.
From June 30 to July 4, the masters will hold lectures and training sessions, during which the Norilsk residents will create art objects for the city space. Thus, the artist Stepan Krasnov will teach the participants to paint the walls in the style of muralism.
“I have a list of cities that I want to visit, and Norilsk is one of them. For five days I felt the northern spirit, the city romance and inspiration. I understand what objects the residents need, I will tell the participants the theory and share my practical skills, and the result of our classes will be the painting of the city walls”, said Stepan Krasnov.
Art-master Victor Splash will teach Norilsk residents to create wooden sculptures with the 3D illusions effect. In total, they plan to make about five city objects.
Lilia Burdinskaya will create an unusual art object together with the residents. In five days, they will knit a great catcher of desires. It will be installed on one of the Norilsk streets.
“Before coming to Norilsk, I watched documentaries, talked with colleagues who have been here. I realized that Norilsk is connected with a strong desire of the townspeople to leave here. They also told me that dreams come true in the city. We will create a knitted catcher of desires, it will not survive the winter, but there is a kind of metaphor in this about the transience of our life”, shared Lilia Burdinskaya.
The public art festival has no restrictions, the only condition is to register on the festival website using the link.
The best art objects will be chosen by residents of the city, and on July 10, the winners will be awarded.
The public art festival will be held with the support of Nornickel and RASKRASIMVSYO creative organization.
