#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The Taimyr Museum of Local Lore has held the grand opening of the family-ethnographic club Yalyako, which translated from the Nenets language means Bright Day. It was created for Taimyr families and students of Dudinka boarding school No. 1, whose parents are engaged in reindeer herding and fishing in the vast Taimyr tundra.
“Family is the main value in the life of each of us. Family teaches love, mutual respect, hard work, understanding, and mutual assistance. It is gratifying that in the Family Year this family club is opening, which is a form of raising children, where they get to know the world and each other. I wish the club great creative success and achieving the heights the guys dream of”, said Nikolay Maimago, deputy head of Taimyr.
At the opening of the new space, guests were told what the family club would do and what events would be held throughout the year. The organizers are confident that Yalyako will become a place of attraction for many northern families and a platform for those who are ready to share their family values and give warmth to others.
On this day, the Dudinka boarding school pupils – young speakers of their native language – read poems and showed a theatrical miniature based on the fairy tales of A.S. Pushkin in the Nenets language. The event participants also played outdoor games and guessed riddles of the northern peoples.
