#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. In Dudinka, in the area of the passenger pier, the start of the swim Arctic Frontier: Dudinka – Port Sever Bay – Dikson – 600 kilometers took place, organized by the Interregional Association of Cold-water Swimming of Russia. The event brought together the strongest athletes from eight regions of Russia: Perm, Blagoveshchensk, Anapa, Ulyanovsk, Novomichurinsk, Krasnoyarsk, Novy Urengoy and Kuzbass, the official website of Dudinka reported.
The Taimyr leaders and the swim organizer, the record holder of the Russian Book of Records and the Guinness Book of Records, the honorary polar explorer of Russia, the chairman of the Interregional Association of Cold-water Swimming of Russia Alexander Brylin addressed the athletes with inspiring words.
Before the start of the mass swim, designer and artist of the Arctica cinema and leisure center Dana Stark prepared a theatrical program for the participants. The athletes received the blessing of the Mighty Yenisey and the Arctic Queen, after which they headed to the start. To help the swimmers, Dana Stark also presented an ancient icon – a relic of her family.
The first to start was Dmitry Zaika from Anapa, a record holder of the Russian Book of Records and the Guinness Book of Records. The participants will cover the further 600-kilometer distance both by swimming and on an accompanying vessel. The swimmers plan to reach the finish line in ten days.
Earlier, This Is Taimyr reported that 96 swimmers conquered the cold Yenisey.
