#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Epiphany bathing in Dudinka is traditionally organized on the Dudinka river near the zero berth. At noon on January 19, archpriest Georgy Itskov, of the Taimyr district dean, the Dudinka Svyato-Vvedensky Church rector, will perform the rite of blessing the water, then until 18:00 everyone will be able to plunge into the Epiphany Jordan.
Warm tents equipped with flooring, benches and hangers will be set up near the font. All comers will be offered hot tea.
Duty at the zero berth will be carried out by rescuers of the department for civil defense and emergency situations of the municipal district administration, an ambulance brigade and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia’s Taimyr district Department employees. Now the Taimyr rescuers are preparing a site for ablution on the river.
The Taimyr head Yevgeny Vershinin recommended that employers, the city institutions and enterprises heads, if possible, let their employees leave their work places for an hour, to plunge into the Epiphany Jordan.
On January 17, at 17:00, an evening service on Epiphany Eve was held at the Dudinka Svyato-Vvedensky Church. January 18, in the morning – Divine Liturgy and Great Consecration and distribution of Epiphany water. At 17:00 on the same day, an all-night vigil was held – the consecration of bread, wheat, wine and oil.
On Epiphany, January 19, at 08:00, the Divine Liturgy and the Great Blessing of Water will begin in the church. Epiphany water can be taken from the church during the week following the holiday.
