#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Classes for schoolchildren were organized in honor of the 90th anniversary of Taimyr thanks to the grant project Monkasi-ya – the land of Mugadi. This strange phrase goes back to the Enets language: translated from it, the word ‘monkasi-ya’ means ‘the land of the Enets clan Monkasi, or Mugadi’.
A competition of drawings and photographs was held for schoolchildren and residents of Potapovo. It was possible to participate in online master classes, including with the teacher of fine arts of the Dudinka school, Victor Baranov, who spoke about various techniques and styles of drawing.
In the photography competition, villagers collected historical photographs from the archives of the Enets families. The well-known Norilsk photojournalist Denis Kozhevnikov acted as an expert of the photo competition.
In addition, for schoolchildren, meetings and conversations were held with the oldest residents of the village, native speakers of the Enets language, who shared interesting stories from the lives of their fellow villagers with the children.
It is reported that work on the grant project Monkasy-ya – the land of Mugadi, which was estimated at 174 thousand rubles, continues. Next time the students will meet with the author of the Enets primer Daria Bolina.
As This Is Taimyr previously wrote, two years ago the Project Office for the Development of the Arctic and the Siberian Federal University launched a joint project to create and legalize the writing of the Enets language, they hadn’t had written language before that. In February 2020 first Enets primary was published. In addition, in the Facts and Numbers project we introduced the history, culture and traditions of the Enets.
