#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. In April, the tourist and local history club Ayan together with the Taimyr Nature Reserves directorate conducted an ecological and local history expedition in the area of the Putoransky reserve zone. The Presidential Grants Fund supported the project called the Environmental Patrol.
The participants set themselves the goal of exploring their native land, observing wildlife, collecting materials for educational and environmental activities in Norilsk schools, as well as determining the ecological state of the territory. The mission of the project is to help the youth of the city to learn more about the Putorana plateau, to take a fresh look at the Taimyr nature.
Young environmentalists – Norilsk schoolchildren – found themselves in a different reality for several days.
“To a world where nature is a full-fledged mistress, where mobile phones do not work, there is no city bustle and noise, there are no shops, but there is the noise of the wind, the night rustles of the winter forest behind the thin walls of the camping tent, the crackle of dry firewood in the stove, the burning frost, bright sun and white snow with numerous traces of the winter forest inhabitants”, describe the trip the directorate specialists.
In the future, the project participants will pass on to their peers the knowledge gained about their small homeland. Each member of the expedition collected material for research work, with which he will speak at the project results presentation.
