Easter cakes are baked for the main Orthodox holiday in Norilsk – Easter bread that reminds us of the Christ resurrection.
The strictest week of the Great Lent, the Holy Week, is now underway; it ends with the main Orthodox holiday – Easter. Easter is preceded by Lent, which lasts 40 days, this year it began on February 27th.
Fasting is based on conscious, voluntary self-restraint for the sake of freeing one’s spiritual powers. Fasting involves not only abstinence in food and the rejection of entertainment. The main thing is repentance and cleansing from sins, a personal upgrade.
The Christ Bright Resurrection is the most revered and joyful holiday of the church calendar, it symbolizes the renewal and salvation of the world and man. Christian Easter is a memory of the redemptive sacrifice and for believers it means the triumph of good and light over evil and darkness, the victory of life over death.
