The organizer of the expedition is the Taimyr House of Folk Art (THFA). Experts will study the elements of the traditional everyday culture of Dolgans and Nganasans, two of the five indigenous peoples of Taimyr.
The expedition will go to Hatanga and Volochanka settlements, where representatives of these nationalities live.
“Next week we are planning to go to Hatanga. And in late August or early September – to Volochanka. Earlier we visited the Khantayskoye Lake region, where we studied the ritual dances of Evenks. We are also going to visit the Nenets and the Enets”, the director of (THFA) Lyubov Popova told.
She also noted that such expeditions were conducted in the last century by the capital’s institutes and museums. This trip will be the first for the Taimyr cultural institution. The result of the expeditions range will be the publication of information material – manuals on the features of ritual dances of the Taimyr indigenous peoples.
We add that the Nganasan is the most ancient nation of Eurasia, and they live only on the Taimyr peninsula.
