#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The organizers, the Norilsk Development Agency (NDA), prepared several creative platforms for the townspeople. So, those who wanted to see the ethnic nomad camp made of ice, go through the snow maze, and take vivid, memorable photographs came to the Lake Dolgoye recreation park.
According to the organizers, the interesting location will stay in the park until April.
Despite the 30-degree frost and wind, the townspeople stopped near the Polar Drama Theater, on the facade of which videos with photographs of past years and a fantasy legend about the Big Argish were shown.
The theater itself hosted an exhibition and sale of the North souvenir collection, created by New York designers of the Occhii company together with students of the Norilsk College of Arts. The exhibition was visited not only by theatergoers, but also by the participants of the Arctic blogging tour organized by the EastRussia news agency and the NDA.
For several days, bloggers and representatives of the NTV television company took excursions around Norilsk and Taimyr: they talked about the culture of peoples living in the Far North and the development of distinctive art. In addition, the guests appreciated the gastronomic features of the northern cuisine.
“I have never heard of such a holiday as the Big Argish before, but we were told that in previous years it was celebrated on a large scale. During our tour, we visited Taimyr, the reindeer herders’ camp, met the locals, who welcomed us, and felt the delights of the local cuisine. I am the person who does not eat meat and fish, but today I tasted muksun for the first time, I really liked it. I hope I’ll come here next year and see the holiday in full”, extreme blogger Angela Nikolau shared with This Is Taimyr.
The jubilee Big Argish will delight the Norilsk residents until November 23. Some city cafes and restaurants have developed a special festival menu, which can be found on the official festival website argish-fest.ru. Also, the organizers have prepared contests in social networks: Remember the Best Moments and Share the Best Photo.
“In the first competition, participants should share memories of the holiday for any year, both videos and photographs are accepted. And in the second one it is necessary to find all the snow deer in the stories about Big Argish. Winners will receive prizes from Occhii or dinner at one of the participating restaurants. The terms of the contests can be found in our social networks”, said Karina Andreyeva, head of socio-cultural and educational projects of the NDA.
Traditionally, the Big Argish festival is organized with the support of the Norilsk Nickel company and the municipalities of Norilsk and Taimyr.
