Bear Patrol project operates in Russia

Local residents, shift workers and tourists will be taught the behavior rules when encountering a white predator.

#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. On Polar Bear Day, February 27, the Rosprirodnadzor head Svetlana Radionova announced the Bear Patrol project launch.

“Today the Bear Patrol has started. It will cover five Arctic regions: the Arhangelsk region, the Yamal-Nenets autonomous district, the Krasnoyarsk region, the Republic of Saha (Yakutia) and the Chukotka autonomous district”, she said in her Telegram channel.

People in the polar bear’s habitat – local residents, shift workers and tourists – will be taught the rules of behavior when meeting a bear, they will be given the necessary instructions and contacts of specialists. Training seminars will be developed for enterprise employees, and webinars-  for tourists and shift workers. There are also plans to create training centers for local residents.

Earlier, This Is Taimyr reported that from Taimyr to Yamal, Rosprirodnadzor had counted 42 polar bears.
