#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The Bystrinsky plant has begun using artificial intelligence (AI) for the employees’ safety – the system monitors the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
The protective equipment video analysis is an in-house development of the Nornickel’s IT team, which was implemented at several enterprises of the Norilsk and Kola divisions. The Bystrinsky mining and processing enterprise added a Face ID module.
The AI continuously monitors the presence of workwear, safety helmets, goggles and other PPE. Specialists also train the system to recognize and record the use of a harness by employees when working at height.
If an employee violates the rules for the PPE use, the system will generate a violation card and send it to the line manager for consideration. He will make a decision regarding the employee depending on the specific situation.
Recall that the employees’ safety and health is a strategic priority for Nornickel. The company is committed to achieving zero fatalities.
