#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. To solve production problems, Nornickel introduces IT tools – computer vision. Automatic image processing technology based on artificial intelligence will improve the safety of work in the enterprise.
The first site of the company, to put the automated control system for the use of personal protective equipment into commercial operation, was the power supply center of the Kola Mining and Metallurgical Company. The Center has installed 19 cameras that monitor security in real time and transmit data with an accuracy of 95 percent.

The system is capable of recognizing and fixing violations if an employee forgets to wear a helmet, goggles, mask or vest. This is a proprietary development of a team of experts from the Nornickel IT department – Nortech.
“The system is universal, intelligent video analytics works autonomously and does not require the presence of an operator. It has a convenient reporting and analysis functionality for recorded violations, as well as a powerful monitoring and diagnostics system. Even before the launch of the system into commercial operation, together with the developers, we began to solve the following task of expanding the information system – adding a function to alert an employee about a detected violation. This is how we warn the employee immediately, even before entering the work area”, emphasized Dmitry Sannikov, head of the Kola MMC automation department.
