#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The Norilsk Museum head Natalya Fedyanina told the Енисей.рф media forum guests about the creation of the Arctic Museum of Modern Art (AMMA).
On the museum’s initiative, artists often come to the city and work with the territory meanings, often turning to the archives of museum collections. For them, the concept will be the entire memory of the city, with which they can work in the AMMA.
According to Natalya Fedyanina, the strongest professionals who were captivated by the powerful idea were involved in the AMMA creation. Throughout the work, the museum workers included the city-forming enterprise, Nornickel, as a partner. When creating the AMMA project, there were a lot of measurements, interviews, and anthropological studies:
“We involved not only museum workers, but also townspeople in the discussion what kind of museum the city needs. Everything was as public as possible. In the end we reached the result. We chose from three scenarios”.
The speaker emphasized: there are art museums in the country, local history museums, and Norilsk residents are moving towards a relatively new one – the city museum. And the city is not something frozen, it is a changing structure.
Let us remind you that the Arctic Museum of Modern Art is being built with additional funding from Nornickel, and research is now being carried out near the building of the future museum. Experts have created a three-dimensional model of AMMA; anyone can view the layout.
