#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The unique exhibition and sale of the souvenir collection – North – created by the New York designers of the Occhii company together with students of the Norilsk College of Arts, was held at the Zapolyarny Drama Theater. Young designers created dozens of traditional products of the indigenous peoples of Taimyr using modern technologies. The exhibition became a part of the jubilee Big Argish ethnic festival.
As a result of the highly artistic work of the masters, earrings and pendants from mammoth tusk were made; each piece of jewelry is a piece of history dating back millions of years.
The designers also created amazing deer horns figurines, which show the Taimyr wildlife: wolves, bears, fish.
The collection also takes into account the interests of the youngest inhabitants of Norilsk: the Norilsk art school teacher Anastasia Skrypnikova created a bright coloring, through which children can learn the amazing story of Aika bear.
“My task in this project was to advise the craftsmen which ornaments can be used in products and which are not. I also told legends – it helped the masters in their creativity. I believe that the line between history and modernity can be traced in the collection. It is thanks to such works that our culture will live and develop”, said Vasily Batagay, head of the department of arts and crafts and fine arts of the Taimyr House of Folk Art.
Products from the North collection can be purchased through the united official page of the artists on Instagram – @severartisan. The project was implemented with the support of the Norilsk Development Agency and the Nornickel company.
