#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute (AARI) begins cooperation with the Marchuk Institute of Numerical Mathematics of the Russian Academy of Sciences RAS in the Arctic Ocean’s research.
The Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute hosted a seminar on modern methods and technologies for numerical modeling of processes occurring in the ocean. The seminar participants noted that Russian science is reaching a qualitatively new level. It is noted that in order to achieve the set goals it is necessary to develop existing technologies and introduce the new ones.
According to scientists numerical modeling is an effective tool in the climate change’s predicting. They emphasize that only the close cooperation of institutions with unique knowledge and experience will make it possible to achieve high results in this area.
The researchers noted that high-quality modern forecasts should be based on huge amounts of data, the analysis of which requires powerful computers. This fact means that for the numerical simulation’s development it is necessary to update the entire computer base and create the supercomputers’ computing capacity capable to carry out the necessary calculations quickly and with proper quality.
The message says:
According to the seminar’s results it was decided to create a working group to develop cooperation between the AARI and the Marchuk Institute of Numerical Mathematics of the Russian Academy of Sciences RAS.
The AARI press service adds that the scientists plan to work together to create an effective numerical modeling system for a comprehensive Arctic Ocean’s research and the integrated operational forecasts’ preparation.
Earlier, we told that climate research on the North Pole platform will be resumed.
