#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The climate change research will be resumed on an ice-resistant self-propelled platform. This was told by Alexander Makarov, the Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute’s head.
The draft research program is ready based on the previous research experience at drifting stations in the Arctic. The main vector will be aimed at conducting a complex of meteorological observations. We resume regular direct observations in the Arctic after almost ten years.
The specialist recalled that the last expedition on the drifting station in 2013 had to be stopped due to the climate change’s effects. The station North Pole – 40 crew began work in October 2012 but had to complete the research three months ahead of schedule.
Alexander Makarov added:
The ice was not strong enough, we had to evacuate urgently.
