#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Participants of the strategic session “Norilsk – territory of growth”, timed to coincide with the Day of Russian entrepreneurship, discussed the prospects for business development in the Arctic zone. The event brought together representatives of the business community, authorities, the Norilsk Development Agency (NDA), and non-profit organizations.
The conversation touched upon the current and planned measures to support business from the municipality and the regional government, benefits and preferences for small and medium-sized businesses implementing investment projects in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation. As well as such financial support instruments as interest-free loans from the World of New Opportunities charitable program of Nornickel and loans from commercial banks.
The participants also listened to the NDA report on measures to support entrepreneurs.
“The agency is an open platform, where many businessmen apply every year. They share their plans, initiatives, aspirations, and we share useful up-to-date information about plans for the city development, data on existing and planned business initiatives for the next few years,” said Roman Kulyan, NDA first deputy director. “We help free of charge to structure investment projects and prepare complex calculations, which then form the basis for preparing applications for obtaining the status of a resident of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation, grants, subsidies, bank loans”.
Every year, 10–20 projects are supported by the NDA. More than two dozen entrepreneurs have already become residents of the Russian Arctic zone with a total volume of declared investments 3.2 billion rubles. They implement their projects in a variety of industries – from the tourism business and development to the building materials production and waste processing.
DNA regularly conducts trainings and master classes for start-up entrepreneurs and experienced businessmen. Strategic sessions, round tables and a business forum initiated by the NDA help to establish communication between large and small businesses, urban communities, non-profit organizations, the expert community and authorities. The result of each event is a resolution or a set of measures.
