#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The Taimyr Museum of Local Lore hosted the premiere of the play Merchants of Dudinka. Life, Discoveries, Love based on the Taimyr writer Yuri Gradinarov’s book named In Lower Reaches Yenisey is Mighty.
As the director of the museum, Olga Korneyeva, said, this is the second production within the Theatrical Stage in Museum Stories project.
“The production immerses you in the historical events that took place in Taimyr in the 19th century. The heroes of the play are the merchants Sotnikovs, who traded along the northern tract of the Turuhansk region”, the museum explained.
The permanent exhibition of the museum became the backdrop for the theatrical action. The performance took place among authentic household items of the 19th century: samovars, caskets, tea boxes, scales, irons – all this creates the atmosphere of the past.
The project is being implemented thanks to the financial support of Nornickel as part of the World of New Opportunities charitable program with the participation of cultural volunteers.
