Specialists of Krasnoyarskstat (the Krasnoyarsk region territorial body of the Federal State Statistics Service) prepared statistics about this category of residents. 590.1 thousand people from 60 years and older lived in the region at the beginning of 2022. Over the year, the number of elderly increased by 0.7 percent. This category of residents is 20.7 percent of the total population. 24.5 percent of the elderly lives in rural areas, and 19.6 percent – in cities.
The number of residents of the region aged 100 years and older amounted to 288 people. Last year, 227 people over 100 years old lived in the region.
At the beginning of 2022, for 1000 men aged 60 and older there were 1799 women. With an increase in age, the difference between the male and female population size becomes more significant. For 1000 men aged 65–69 years – 1638 women, at the age of 70–79 years – 2032 women, aged 80 years and older – 3313 women.
“In 2021, 631 men and 379 women over the age of 60 in the region entered into marriage, of which 49 men and 22 women were not married before”, said Krasnoyarskstat.
In addition, older people continue to work. Last year, the level of employment of people aged 60–69 years amounted to 25.7 percent, and at the age of 70 and older – 2.5 percent.
Recall that in six months, more than 16 thousand people left our region.
Krasnoyarskstat calculated that 175.5 thousand budget sphere employees’ salary grew. And women in our region find work faster than men.
