#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. May 25 will mark the 200th anniversary of the founding of the Yenisey governorate. The governor of the region Alexander Uss started preparations for the celebration. The event will acquire a federal scale format.
All regions, including Hakassia and Tuva, as well as Norilsk and Taimyr, will be connected to the event – a lot of interesting events will be held in the cities and districts of the region: historical, cultural and sports.
As part of the celebration in 2021, there will be a congress of local historians, the Siberian historical forum and a meeting of the Russian Geographical Society.
“We are talking about a significant event, which became the starting point in the history of our region as a separate territory, laid the foundation for its development”, the governor emphasized.
With the participation of the Siberian Federal University, an electronic atlas and a mobile application on the history of Siberia will be developed, documentaries about the Yenisey governorate will be created. A commemorative coin, a postage stamp, a postal envelope, a jubilee medal and a commemorative sign will be issued for the event.
The 200th anniversary of the Yenisey governorate founding coincides with two more significant dates – the 120th anniversary of the Krasnoyarsk branch of the Russian Geographical Society and the 300th anniversary of Russian archeology. As the governor noted, this fact will allow scientists to unite their efforts and, with their help, draw more attention to the history of the region, the most important events, heroes, and intensify research work.
The main events on the occasion of the two-century anniversary are scheduled for 2022.
