First cloudberries harvested in Taimyr

August 09, 2021

Norilsk residents are sharing photos of the impressive harvest and making jam.

#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Inhabitants of Taimyr began to harvest cloudberries – berries called northern orange, arctic raspberry and marsh amber. The name royal berry also took root in the North.

Cloudberry is a valuable antioxidant: it contains many B vitamins, vitamins A, E, and the concentration of ascorbic acid is twice as high as in oranges. Arctic raspberry is rich in phosphorus, iron, magnesium, calcium, fatty acids.

Cloudberry in Taimyr has even become a symbol of the Northern Berry festival. This year, a three-dimensional image of a cloudberry was painted on the asphalt near the Ol-Gul ski base.

The Norilsk people share photos of this summer’s impressive harvest on social networks.
