“I have visited Dudinka and Norilsk several times so far. You can say I’m one of them. Since 2016, the capital of Taimyr has hosted one of the World Curling Tour stages – the Arctic Curling Cup. I always come here with pleasure, this place differs from Switzerland and other places on the planets – I can compare as I travel a lot. Freedom and power is felt here, local people know how to enjoy life and surprise guests.
It’s hard for me to say whether the capital of Taimyr changes from visit to visit, since I come just for two or three days. I made friends with several northerners – they don’t change at all. In general, people here are open and hospitable. They always smile and are willing to communicate with athletes and guests of the tournament, sincerely interested in curling.
And for athletes from all over the world, this is a unique opportunity to see the Arctic region of Russia, get acquainted with the local culture and famous northern cuisine. At the same time, the Taimyrians, I think, win twice – they have a rare chance to see big sport with their own eyes – here, on the edge of the Earth, world-class curlers gather. And it’s not even about a bright holiday or autographs… Perhaps some of the residents of Dudinka or Norilsk will be hooked on this game and start training.
I think it’s a great luck to have such a generous sponsor as Nornickel. Thanks to the Arctic Curling Cup athletes from all over the world know this brand now”.
