#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Experts highly appreciated the inventions of the IMAKE 2024 league participants. Schoolchildren had to publicly defend their creations’ right to life. The City of Engineering Solutions was replenished with new ideas from 21 legionnaires from Norilsk, Dudinka and Chita.
The jury noted the originality of the ideas and the fact that each creation could eventually be applied in real life. For example, the HoloPeklo soil cooling and house heating system, which was developed by Artyom Kurlovich, would certainly be useful to builders and permafrost organizations.
“This year we were very pleased with the children’s inventions. Lots of projects that can be easily applied in everyday life. All participants of the Arctic Wave festival have sparkling eyes, a feeling that they live and breathe ideas, they want to create and share their useful inventions with others. I hope that each invention will find its application”, said Svetlana Semenkova, acting head of the Nornickel’s Charitable Activities and Corporate Community Development Department.
Dmitry Bogdanov, the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs’ business school’s vice-president and the IMAKE finals’ expert, believes that the IMAKE legionnaires’ level is very high this year. According to him, it was interesting to have a dialogue with the guys and the students answered the questions with great competence. The most important thing is that the guys develop their projects to solve serious problems, such as environmental ones.
“Super! Well done everyone. Some ideas are more developed, and their implementation can be started faster, others are close to science fiction. But we’re not going to clip their wings, just bring them back a little to today’s realities. I hope that in the future they will continue their research and inventive work. 60 percent of the presented ideas are ready for implementation in real life, about 30 – require further development, and only ten percent are science fiction, which will one day become a reality, just as the images and sound transmission and human flight into space once became possible”, added Dmitry Bogdanov.
Thus, Anastasia Snegireva’s invention, which she called ShoeCover-Lover, will be useful for clinics, gyms, and beauty salons. The girl is 17 years old, she came to Norilsk for the Arctic Wave from Chita, and she was participating in the IMAKE inventor league for the second time and became a finalist for the second time. In the future, the girl plans to enter the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia in the Innovation major, since she is attracted by the symbiosis of science and languages. And of course, she hopes to become an IMAKE mentor.
“I have many stories and impressions associated with IMAKE. I’ve been to Skolkovo twice. IMAKE prepared me to participate in the Nornicke’sl World of New Opportunities competition, and thanks to it I’ve got 100 thousand to implement my first invention – a student charging station. This is an organizer for handing over and storing phones at school. Nowadays we put our phones in a cardboard or plastic box, which is extremely unreliable. I’ve come up with an organizer with recharging: phones wait for their owners and are charged at the same time. This motivates students to study and helps preserve the digital ecology. The project will allow the installation of 15 organizers in Chita schools”, Anastasia shared.
She was prompted to her second invention by the untidy appearance of used shoe covers, which in medical institutions they most often try to compact into trash cans with a mop or broom. ShoeCover-Lover catches shoe covers, uses an air press to suck them in and compact them, and the hot air that turns on every 15 minutes turns a huge pile of shoe covers into a small flat washer.
“We send these pucks for further processing and production, for example, of benches and even clothes”, she added.
Norilsk really needs Lid Trap – a project by Norilsk resident Varvara Balde. This cover will prevent waste in household waste bins from flying all over the city on a windy day. The girl is 15 years old, she is a ninth grade student at school No. 6, she has been participating in IMAKE for the second year and is seriously concerned about the problem of garbage in the city.
Varvara’s first invention did not reach the final stage. But the girl still didn’t completely dismiss the idea of a robotic psychologist and decided that one day she would return to it.
“I am very upset by the litter in the yards. It makes our city unsightly. I realized that I needed to invent a lid that would cover the bins and prevent garbage from getting out of them. There is no need to lift the lid; you don’t have to touch it at all. It will be possible to throw garbage into the tank without lifting the lid thanks to the plate, which is made in the form of bristles that bend under the garbage weight – they do not leave the garbage a chance to fall out of the tank”, explained Varvara.
