#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. To preserve the ecosystem and biodiversity, NSC annually releases juveniles of various fish species, such as sturgeon, nelma and grayling. Near the village of Atamanovo, Suhobuzimsky district, Krasnoyarsk region, NSC employees released 21 744 Siberian sturgeon fry into the Yenisey.
“The Siberian sturgeon’s Yenisey population fry release into the Yenisey took place in the area from the 108th to the 119th kilometer on the pilot map, starting from the Krasnoyarsk hydroelectric power station’s dam and ending at the Angara river mouth, near the village of Atamanovo, Suhobuzimsky district”, said the NSC environmental department’s head Natalya Lukyanova.
Juveniles weighing from 1 to 3 grams for release are raised until the age of 1.5 months in special conditions at the large fish-breeding complex Maltat in the Balahtinsky district of the Krasnoyarsk region, with which the Nornickel company has been working since 2016.
Maltat has the appropriate permit for the circulation of animal objects listed in the Red Book of the Russian Federation. The fish farm has a genetic passport, as well as a veterinary certificate for transporting fry to the release site. These requirements are aimed at preserving and controlling the circulation of king fish.
First, the fry are counted – their weight is determined, after which the average value is calculated. Then the juvenile sturgeon is loaded into a vehicle for transporting live fish and delivered to the site. The fry are released strictly at a water temperature of at least 9 degrees.
The place for release, the number and type of fish are strictly determined by specialists from Rosrybolovstvo, and the process itself takes place with the participation of the Rosprirodnadzor (the federal environment monitoring organization) and the environmental prosecutor’s office representatives.
Earlier, fish farmers with the participation of Norilsktransgaz released a batch of fry into the Yenisey. We also wrote that fry of the most valuable fish in the world were delivered to the Norilsk fish factory.
