#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The Yenisey embankment near the Tikhie Zori microdistrict in the regional center will be named after the honorary citizen of the Krasnoyarsk region, honorary citizen of Norilsk Vladimir Dolgih.
“The choice of the embankment site is symbolic. The period of active development of the right-bank part of our city is associated with Dolgih. We continue to solve this important task today together with the residents”, the Krasnoyarsk head Vladislav Loginov wrote in his Telegram channel.
According to the mayor, one of the city’s traditions is naming embankments after honored fellow countrymen – several landscaped areas along the Yenisey and Kacha rivers are named in their honor. On January 23, the expert commission on naming objects decided to perpetuate the memory of another outstanding Siberian.
Last December, a memorial plaque was unveiled on the house on Lenin street where Vladimir Ivanovich lived in Krasnoyarsk for the 100th anniversary of his birth.
Earlier, a similar sign appeared in the historical center of Norilsk.
Vladimir Dolgikh’s life was closely connected with Norilsk for more than ten years. Through his efforts, initiative, and personal responsibility, the Talnah deposit was discovered and the Mayak mine was founded.
The gasification of our industrial giant was also a merit of Dolgih, the director of the Norilsk mining and metallurgical combine. Under Vladimir Ivanovich, preparations began for the Dudinka seaport to open year-round navigation, the Norilsk airport began operating, and the Valyok sanatorium, a unique health resort in the Far North, was opened.
Our outstanding fellow countryman is a two-time hero of socialist labor, holder of six Orders of Lenin, two Orders of the Great Patriotic War of the 1st degree, the Order of Friendship, the Order For Merit to the Fatherland of the 4th and 1st degree, and many medals. He had high insignia of distinction from foreign countries.
