#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. In the city of Zapolyarny, equipping a playing field in the new ice rink building is underway.
The old indoor skating rink in Zapolyarny near the Dolphin sports center operated for seven years. Competitions, training sessions, and leisure activities were held here. In February 2024, the rink hosted the Red Machine hockey training camp.
In the spring, it was dismantled, and preparations began for new construction. The ice rink, where work is currently underway, is one of the points of the agreement between Nornickel and the Murmansk region government concerning the socio-economic development of the territory.
A new indoor arena with a refrigeration unit, a modern ventilation system, and a comfortable internal temperature will make the training season year-round.
Now, according to the Dolphin sports complex director Andrey Korshun, geotextiles, a tubular system for the field’s warm layer have been laid on the court, collectors for connecting the tubular system have been welded, everything has been pressurized.
Before laying the cold layer, the contractor will install embedded parts for the sides of the ice arena. They will be mounted after the field is poured with concrete. The delivery of the already purchased stands and ice combine is expected. Electricians will connect the refrigeration and ventilation machines to the power unit.
The construction of a year-round ice rink in the city of Zapolyarny is on schedule, the contractor should finish the sports facility this fall.
Modernization of the Arctica sports palace in Norilsk is also ongoing. The equipment was purchased by the Nornickel company together with T-Bank.
